It is brotherly love.
A man has been left horrified to discover his long-term wife slept with his younger brother before they married 20 years ago.
“I feel hurt, violated and almost irrationally angry that this ‘secret’ was known in my family but I was clueless,” the stunned husband, who is in his mid-50s, revealed in a post recently resurfaced on Reddit.
The husband, who goes by @JahgMeeHoff on Reddit, took to the site to ask other users for advice.
“My brother had a date with my wife a few weeks before we started dating. I never knew. They have kept it a secret all these years”, he wrote. “I realize it’s ancient history, but we’ve had marital problems like any couple over the years.”
The shockingly secretive effort was made public during a family dinner, where the Redditor’s sister-in-law spilled the beans on previously undisclosed information.
After asking his brother for further information, the man learned that his brother and his wife had had sex on several occasions.
“They were intimate/crushed on a regular basis,” writes the enraged Redditor. “More than a few times. It was more FWB [friends with benefits]close the road where they lived. I think they were both excited young professionals. Who wasn’t [when they were] in your twenties?”
“That part is not really my business before us, it’s just weird that my brother hit my wife,” he added. “He hugged her. She was pregnant very soon after we started dating. We got married very quickly. It was exciting.”
The revelation has caused a rift between the Redditor and his wife, and he is now questioning the future of his marriage.
“My wife won’t pick up the phone. “I already had trust issues from the things she did in our relationship in our mid-40s,” he said. “My wife and I already sleep apart.”
Many Redditors were shocked at the family’s concerted efforts to keep the relationship a secret for so long.
“The saddest part here is that everyone around him knows and is purposefully keeping it from him,” one person wrote.
“Keeping such a secret behind your back for so long feels like a betrayal,” added another.
Meanwhile, some users are worried that his firstborn may not be his biological child.
“Wait a damn minute, they had copious amounts of unprotected sex weeks before you started dating, and she got pregnant pretty quickly once you started dating?! Are you sure your oldest is biologically yours?” commented one alarmed reader.
Despite the heartbreaking revelation, the Redditor updated followers, saying he hopes he can work things out with his wife — and rebuild trust with his younger brother.
“I know I’m angry now. I see red thinking about it. I guess I’m embarrassed that everyone else knew and I was the ignorant fool. So humiliating,” he wrote.
